January Recap

I'll admit, I've been a bit of a slacker with keeping up with my blog since the year started. I feel like I'm already falling behind and failing myself with my resolutions.

January started with a bang. I decided to try to train harder for my spring marathon, but the cold alerts have been non stop. I have made it out for a few of my long runs, but most of my shorter runs have been logged on the treadmill. I guess I shouldn't complain, as I can just drag my butt down to the treadmill and pound my miles away. I can't stand to have my phone frozen, fingers numb (even with mittens on) and water bottles frozen for my long runs. I find it unsafe at this point and definitely not fun at all.
My last long run outside
I decided to incorporate some more cross training in hopes to build more core strength and in turn helping me be a stronger and less injured runner. I started Insanity Max 30. It's an intense workout jammed into 30 minutes. I've been able to do it at home and away on some of my layovers.  It's jam packed with all sorts of exercises to get your sweat on. The best part is when I'm doing it at home, my little guy loves to join in.

I have had to adjust my marathon training plan as I have not been able to log all the required miles. I am hoping to still be able to perform well this year with my races. I have been able to log over 150 kilometres which I am somewhat happy with. I will try to squeeze in some more in February.

I am also thrilled that I will be running my first race of 2015 in a warm destination. My girlfriends and I planned our 40th birthday trip down to Sarasota. I decided to look up races in the area and was able to find a 12K race the weekend we are in town. We will all be running together. I can't wait!!

How was your January?

Are you trying anything new in your fitness routine?

2015 Will Be My Year

I am so glad that 2014 is finally over. It was a year of many ups and downs. I had mentioned to a few close friends of mine last January that I had a terrible gut feeling about 2014 and that it was not going to be a good year. I told them to keep their loved ones close and to enjoy every moment. It was a year of many heartaches for me. I am very happy to be saying bye to 2014 and excited to get 2015 started.

I have decided that this year will be better. It will be my year. I will be turning 40 this year and I am going to make it a memorable year.

I was never a person who would make resolutions.  I felt that if i did not meet them, I would be disappointed in myself. I've had a change to heart this year. I have decided to set some goals and do my best to achieve them. I will not be too hard on myself if I don't reach them all. I have learned that setting goals gives me something to focus on and look forward to.

Family Goals

- Have more date nights with hubby

- Potty train the little stud

- Have girls day out with my mini me

Fitness Goals

- Run a 1:45 half marathon

- Run a 3:45 marathon (I'd LOVE to BQ)

- Stay injury free

- Incorporate more strength training

- Look into getting a coach

Blogging Goals

- Blog at least 2 times a week

- Grow readership

I bought a paper planner where I will be writing down all my training so that I can track my progress. 2014 brought me many personal bests but I know that 2015 will be an even better year.

Do you have any Resolutions for 2015?

Have a wonderful 2015
